Van der Gang Watches introduces the Limitée celebrating 5 years of Vlieger

Van der Gang Watches launches a special edition of their Original Vlieger, the Vlieger Limitée. Based on the design that won the ‘European Watch of the Year’ award. This jubilee edition will be limited to 25 pieces.

In 2014, founder Wybe Van der Gang created his version of the pilot’s watch, the Vlieger. Because we developed a in-house manufactured case. This Vlieger is something different than u used to see. Something we especially been proud of is our case manufacturing. This in combination with the perfect balanced design, Van der Gang Watches won the 0024 ‘Watch of the Year’ award. Therefore we celebrating an exclusive jubilee edition this year, to celebrate five years of Vlieger.

The Vlieger Limitée

The Vlieger Limitée has the stylistic characteristics of a classic aeroplane instrument. Including a warm anthracite dial and contrasting Luminova hands and numerals. On its dial you’ll find a 12-hour second time zone with an AM/PM indication, a big date, and the chronograph functions. For our movement we used an ETA 7751. In addition to our background we converted this movement in-house. The movement at the moment is an ETA 7753, with additional in-house developed complications and a 48-hour power reserve.

The 41 mm watchcase has an unusual anthracite Diamond-Like-Carbon coating which over time develops a special patina. Maybe even more remarkable, the Vlieger’s sapphire glass with an unusual 2.6 mm thickness has a subtle green shade. The resulting color scheme, with its DLC-case, green sapphire glass and dark anthracite dial makes you feel like you’re actually sitting inside a cockpit flying at dusk.

Besides the green sapphire glass, several other subtle details distinguish the Limitée from its predecessor. Take for example the ‘Royal Orange’ pusher at 8 o’clock and it’s complementary second time zone hand. The rotor, visible thanks to a see-through sapphire glass back, commemorating the Vlieger’s 5-year anniversary and displaying the unique serial number. Or the luxurious NATO-strap finished with fine calf leather. As a finishing touch, the Vlieger comes in a numbered handmade wooden box designed and produced exclusively for our Limitée edition.
